Curved Air presents:

What does the fear of death sound like? How does one express via music the sheer joy of breathing? Mahler appears to have answers to these questions. It is difficult to choose just two hours of excerpts from Mahler’s symphonies and song cycles, but tonight we have a decent selection. I could have easily filled this time slot with some of the darkest and heaviest music ever composed, but it is just easy to go the more serene route. Here is a bit of both. Turn this up to eleven and ride some amazing waves. Featuring performances by Jessye Norman, Christa Ludwig, Herbert von Karajan, Claudio Abbado, Sir Georg Solti, and others.
