Francosonic presents:
Joyeuse fête de la Bastille, mes amis français, francophones et francophiles !
Celebrate France’s independence day tonight before July 14 is juste un souvenir dans notre mémoire.
You’ll hear patriotic marches, good ol’ standard French chansons, and iconic songs that came out of France over the course of several decades. If you listen closely, you might also hear songs that some might consider irreverent towards la Mariane and l’Hexagone (France)…counter-culture representing a population of French citizens and sans-papiers alike who have something to say.
Bonne écoute !
Check out this great article on French music from the Revolutionary era, right around the time of the fall of the Bastille.
