Open Source RVA presents:

BEAT THE HEAT WITH THIS SOURCE! On Friday’s Open Source RVA, heard at noon on WRIR 97.3 FM, host Don Harrison talks with Shelby Brown of WTVR CBS 6 News and board member Quanda West about their non-profit organization, Mission From The Heart, which brings necessities and personal items to homeless and low-income kids across the region. And the Richmond 48 Hour Film Project is back in town, and will be screening a new batch of low-budget DIY films by Richmonders at the Byrd Theatre on Sunday. Organizer Lisa Giles talks all about the art of making films on the fly with Don and producer Krysti Albus, who is one of the filmmakers who worked on a film in this year’s competition. We also have another exciting edition of Curtain Call, courtesy of the Richmond Theatre Critics Critic. This week, Jerry Williams, Julinda D. Lewis, Claire Boswell and Susie Hirsch Haubenstock discuss the all-woman production of “Taming of the Shrew” (Quill Theatre at Agecroft), the remount of “Animal Control” (Firehouse Theatre) and “Polkadots: The Cool Kid Musical (Virginia Repertory Theatre at Willow Lawn). Oh, and the program makes radio history by establishing contact with the Open Source RVA of Earth Two. HEAR THIS HISTORIC EVENT!! Friday noon on WRIR 97.3 FM and http://wrir.org.
