Open Source RVA presents:

GET WITH THE SOURCE On Friday’s flavorful edition of Open Source RVA, heard at noon on WRIR 97.3 FM, food critic Piet E Jones returns with Open Face, and talks with Micheal Sparks, Kate Houck and Emrick Danton of The The Underground Kitchen, a unique Richmond-based dining society that travels the land spreading unique and unusual dinner offerings. They tell Piet all about the Kitchen’s upcoming “New Americana” food tour, and its launch in Richmond on Saturday with an event featuring legendary New York chef Peyton Powell. Then Nicki Stein and our own Krysti Albus talk about the Where Radio is Real program, a Visual Arts Center of Richmond initiative created with WRIR that helps area middle school students learn all about producing radio. You’ll learn all about the program and hear from the kids. Speaking of child-like behavior, we also have Richmond City Council coverage via the Quick and Dirty Council Roundup and Melissa Vaughn of RVA Dirt. And, sadly, we also bid a tearful farewell to the Source’s beloved founding producer Jay Westermann (pictured), who unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday. We’re gonna miss you, buddy. LISTEN TO THE SOURCE! Friday at noon on WRIR 97.3 fm Richmond Independent Radio and http://wrir.org.
