Support The CommunityRichmond has become too big and too diverse of a community to be served only by commercial and traditional public radio stations. Listeners, advocates and contributors like you have made it clear that Richmond needs and wants a radio station that airs music, news and views that would otherwise go unrepresented. WRIR's semi-annual Fund Drives, along with our year-round underwriting program, are the financial cornerstones for making this community service possible. Help WRIR GrowYour past donations have made it possible for Richmond Independent Radio to grow from a concept to one of the most successful low-power FM (LPFM) stations in the USA. Our new transmitter and antenna have greatly increased our range, so now more people than ever can hear WRIR. Our amazing team of over 150 volunteers create, produce and staff 24 hours of programming every day. 97.3 WRIR's unique role as the City of Richmond's official emergency broadcast outlet ensures that Richmond’s citizens will receive vital information directly from City officials when a state of emergency is declared. Richmond is a national leader in the movement to reclaim the public airwaves for the public's benefit, thanks to folks like you. It's Fun!The Fund Drive is a fun time for WRIR's volunteers, and we try to make it fun for the listeners as well. There's no on-air whining, no high-pressure goals, no extending the length of the drive. On the other hand, there are choice gifts for our donors, delicious free food for folks who make their contributions in person at 1621-B West Broad Street (1/2 block west of Lombardy), and the same great Richmond Independent Radio programming as usual. With just a few interruptions to remind you that it's a special time of year.
