MORE/LESS Label Showcase (Baltimore)

Lovehate (Patrick Brander)
Patrick Brander hails from Lansing, Michigan where he listened to techno and electro and grew his beard. Once his beard was fully grown he made the exodus to Baltimore. There, he met up with Craig Sopo and they started the More/Less techno label. And so the face-melting commenced.

Sopo (Craig Sopo)
Between his schooling, steam boat commandeering and dayraving Craig Sopo finally made the inevitable jump that most djs do. Becoming a producer. While most people shouldn't bother making the jump, we're glad Craig did. Not only does he make the tracks he also runs half of MORE OR LESS and is professional hustler. There will be no mention of humbleness, humility et. al. Let's be real with ourselves here, reading a bio with that cut/paste text is boring. Sopo is sarcastic and rude like a ornery old man with shingles and cataracts. One minute he is rocking Detroit electro and ghettotech while the next he is flipping the switch with some techno jawns that would blow away the minimal haircut trendsters. Keep your eyes peeled for any Sopo sightings on the turntables, but please, no requests.

Dj Kel (Scott Kelly)
Borne out of the depths of suburban Philadelphia, now living in Baltimore, DJ Kel brings a skillful blend from multiple years and flavors of electronic music. His tastes for house, techno, ambient and IDM have been helped by years of on-air and back-office work in free-format radio. First DJ'ing in 1998, Kel made his debut on WPRB (Princeton Univ.) in 1999. Throughout his five years of college, Kel programmed over 300 shows on WKDU (Drexel Univ.) while accepting offers to spin in Philly's various clubs, bars, diners, lounges, warehouses, garages, living rooms, bedrooms, billiard rooms and cloakrooms. In the past few years, Kel's repertoire has grown to include ambient music from the 70's to the present day. After a handful of guest sets on the long-running "Star's End" ambient radio program on WXPN, Kel programmed and mixed an entire five-hour show in August 2007. Nowadays one can expect to hear trippy and dubby ambient interludes laced in his sets, along with deep house, IDM, and jackin' techno, making a thoughtful mix of records selected with an ear for richness and melody.

Leriseux (Paul Baker)
Born under a wolf moon and near a windmill, leriseux was exposed to electronic music at an early age via Dutch pirate radio. Early exposure to disco and 80’s house set that groove in his skull and put him well on his way towards being a techno acolyte. As leriseux searched for that beat that made his head bump, he traversed discos in Belgium, Germany and France. After arriving in the states in ’94, leriseux was exposed to the state-side ‘rave’ scene which further cemented his love for all things house and techno. Leriseux started making idm in ’97 and house/techno in ‘99 but will probably never release anything.

Inter Tribal : The Sun is late today
Posted by Tall Feathers on 2008/7/26 6:30:00 (16 reads)

Welcome Everyone,

I hope you are able to stay and listen a while. As the Lakota Prayer is offered up first thing this morning, I think abou the sun not peeking over the horizon as I drove in. How quickly the sun journeyed through the Sky Nation. Now sending us into the darker hours as the fall and winter time make their plans to join us in the near future.

With this being the last Saturday in July, and August quickly arriving, we still have the extrem temperatures to deal with. Mother Earth has been kind to us so far. We have seen hotter summers during the June, July time frame. Just a few more weeks of possible extrem temps, we should be happy to welcome the fall.

Sit back, sip your coffee, latte, or chai tea and enjoy the sounds of InterTribal.

Walk In Peace,
Tall Feathers

Today I am playing many of my interviews with the Walkers as they passed through Richmond Virginia.

The Other Side of Metal : Guessing Game
Posted by The Professor on 2008/7/26 1:30:00 (9 reads)

Something different on the menu tonight . Lots of tracks of the new CDs that have come in - of course - but also a recurring theme in the playlist. Cover songs. Lots of them tonight. See if you can pick out the covers and the original artist(s). Could be fun. Get your friends involved and create some interactive radio. Leave your guesses/comments on my podcast page. And in between these little rarities you can jam to all the new stuff that has been coming out. Get ready for the shows too. Most of the bands with new CDs are getting ready to hit the road. Judas Priest/Heaven and Hell/Motorhead/Testament all touring together. Danzig coming to Richmond in October. How many of you were at the Dokken show (with Twisted Tower Dire and Charm City Devils) ? Hope to see you at more of these shows. Soon. In the meantime, check out the playlist (after you have guessed about the cover songs) by clicking on READ MORE. And after the show you can go to my podcast page and live it all over again. http://imaginos.podbean.com . And the myspace page is up and almost ready. That link next time. As always, thanks for listening. Thanks for requests from Mandy and Tammy. Got a request ? Email me at . See you next week.
