Silent Music Revival is an event that projects a Classic silent film, while a live band plays the sound track to the film. Prior to the event the band has not seen the film, therefore the live score develops for the first time to the performers as well as the audience.

Dec. 11, 4:30 p.m. – 18th Annual James River Parade of Lights – Richmondfamilies are invited to view this annual twinkling flotilla of holiday-decorated boats on the James River. Entertainment will begin at 4:30 p.m. in Libby Hill Park, located at 2801 E. Franklin St. Parade viewing will begin at 6 p.m. at the Intermediate Terminal at Dock and Water streets. This event is free.
Keefer Clayworks, located at 207 North Davis, between Hanover and Grove, is hosting a holiday open house. See one of a kind, functional pottery, as well as glass, oil paintings and fabric. The holiday open house takes place December 11th and 12th, from 11 am until 6pm. Come out to support your local Richmond artists, and grab a cup of hot cider while you’re here. The event is free and open to the public.

Join the Richmond Craft Mafia at Plant Zero on Sunday, December 12, from 11 to 5 for the Sixth Annual Handmade Holiday. This year, handmade holiday features even more handcrafted goodness than ever before. The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts presents an exhibition of work by Virginia photographer Sally Mann called “The Flash and the Spirit.” The exhibit runs through January 23rd. This will be the first exhibition VMFA has ever presented of one of Virginia’s most celebrated contemporary artists. The exhibition focuses on the theme of the body and emphasizes Mann’s new work, while selectively introducing earlier images. VMFA is located at 200 North Boulevard in Richmond. The University of Richmond presents the 22nd Annual University of Richmond International film Series. Films from Germany, France, Slovenia, China, Africa, Columbia, and Italy are featured. This series is open to the public. All films are shown in Jepson Hall 118 unless otherwise noted. Friday showings are at 3:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and Sunday showings are at 7:30 p.m. The films are shown in the original language with English subtitles. The Visual Arts Center of Richmond presents the next round of Side by Side classes for January, February, and March. Registration opens on December 11th at the Holiday Open House where you can see cool stuff and make cool stuff. Side by Side is a Saturday morning studio art program for children and families to create art as a team. Children, ages 5 to 15, and an adult work together to make amazing art. Doors open at 9:45 am. Each Saturday, there will be five or six classes to choose from. You and your child shape your Side by Side experience by signing up for the classes you want to take together.
