The Blue Note Story Vol. 2 presents:

The Blue Note Story Vol. 2

Last June, we presented you Volume 1 of our series "The Blue Note Story," celebrating the legacy of the greatest Jazz label in history. We believe that the second volume is long over due, which is why our co-host DJ Pari – a passionate collector of original Blue Note vinyl – will once pick out again some of his favorites of the records with the blue and white label and the fantastic cover artwork by designer Reid Miles and photographer Francis Wolff. On tonight's show, you get to hear various sides of the Blue Note sound – from straight ahead hard bop by Donald Byrd, Joe Henderson and John Coltrane (who only made one album for Blue Note) to the more funky organ sounds of Lonnie Smith, Larry Young and Big John Patton and the more exotic sides by artists like Eric Dolphy and Ike Quebec. Like our first show of "The Blue Note Story," which has been downloaded more than 500 times to date, this one will be a definite keeper for not only Jazz fans, but anyone who likes soulful music of the highest caliber.
Tune in from 11pm until 1am Eastern tonight and click on "Read more" for tonight's playlist.
