Better housing coalition's center for neighborhood revitalization is sponsoring a free renovation lending workshop on wednesday, december 21 from 7 to 8:30pm. This workshop will give you all of the financial tools you need for the renovation of an old house in a richmond neighborhood. It will take place at 1106 n. Thompson street, richmond. The silent music revival projects a classic silent short film while a local band plays music to act as the live soundtrack. As an added twist the band does not see the film prior the event and therefore creates an improvised score. Silent music revival returns with a christmas themed screening to gallery 5 on sunday, december 18th at 8pm (sharp) the featured films are:
the insects christmas (1913) & the frozen north (1922) with music score by the snowy owls
the event is free and suitable for all ages.

 

Know a high school student who is interested in theatre? There is a new youth internship program offering six opportunities to learn and try out production skills. Interns must be in high school and must be able to attend rehearsals at night, production meetings, and may be required to work performances during december, january and february.  Application instructions:  send a one-page letter, indicating which internship you want.  List any experience you may have had in your area of interest, including paid and volunteer work. Richmond boys choir, richmond’s ambassadors of song, announces their performance schedule for the 2011-2012 holiday season. On december 10 at 2:00 p.m.the choir will perform at the richmond public library (main), at 101 e. Franklin street, and on december 15 at 7:00 p.m., hear them at the city of richmond holiday open house at the pine camp arts & community center 4901 old brook road. The 6th annual christmas on macarthur is happening on saturday, december 10, 2011, 12 until 4pm in the 4000 block of macarthur ave. On northside. A day of family fun that begins with a parade featuring the holton elementary school choir, the john marshall high marching band, the huguenot high drum line, the richmond corvette club, and much more. This event benefits toys for tots.

The 25th annual court end christmas will be on sunday, december 11from 12 to 5pm at 1015 e. Clay st., richmond. See www.richmondhistorycenter.comor call 804-649-0711 ext. 301.for more information. This richmond tradition celebrates the season in 19th century style with reenactments, children’s activities, carriage rides, music, and free admission and tours of nine historic downtown sites. Free shuttle service provided from 12:30pm-4:45pm (shuttle stops at each site every 15-20 minutes).
