“Adrian’s Fabulous Costumes" – Read by Matt Jewell

The 1939 MGM film, “The Wizard of Oz” secured Adrian, Hollywood’s premier costumer and openly-gay man to work his magic.  In June 2011, his Judy Garland dress and ruby slippers, from the first two weeks of production, went up for auction.
Worn by Judy Garland, the original blue cotton test dress with polka dot trim and ivory sheer puff sleeved blouse sold for over $1 million, a record price for Oz costume memorabilia. The dress has the handwritten label, “Judy Garland 3955.”
The ruby slippers, also not used in the filming, appeared in the screen test. Called the “Arabian-patterned” shoes, they were covered with red sequins and beads and lined with red silk. They sold for $510,000.
All from Debbie Reynolds’ collection to benefit the planned Hollywood Motion Picture Museum.
