"A Campaign for All Children" –  Read by Virginia State Delegate, Betsy Carr

A new report on the needs of U.S. children released in 2011 sparked a new campaign called, All Children Matter. The campaign points out that over two million children are being denied fundamental safeguards.  Laws in the U.S. treat some kids differently than other kids, just because their parents are lesbian or gay.

These children are often denied access to their parents’ health insurance.  They’re denied financial protections if a parent dies or is disabled. They’re also denied the right to have both parents visit them in the hospital.

And with over 115,000 foster children in the U.S. awaiting permanent homes, same-sex couples in many states including Virginia are not allowed to adopt children.
