Wednesday, February 22 – "Booed Soldier Brings Response From Obama" – Virginia State Delegate, Joe Morrissey

At a Republican debate on September 22, 2011, Captain Stephen Hill, a soldier serving in Iraq, asked the candidates their position on gays in the military. He was loudly booed by some people in the audience.  Surprisingly, not one Republican presidential candidate reacted to the shocking display or thanked Hill for his service.

The event was viewed frequently all over the blogosphere, while political commentators jawed about it for days.  At the annual Human Rights Campaign Dinner, President Barack Obama referred to the rude display, saying, “We don’t believe in the kind of smallness that says it’s okay for a stage full of political leaders – one of whom could end up being the president of the United States – being silent when an American soldier is booed.  We don’t believe in that.”

More about Captain Hill tomorrow.
