In April 2011, just a few weeks after Elizabeth Taylor’s death on March 23, the United States Senate passed a resolution honoring her life and work. The resolution was sponsored by Senators Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer of California.
Boxer spoke from the Senate floor, saying, “While widely acclaimed for her career on stage and screen, Elizabeth Taylor’s most important role was as a bold and passionate leader in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Her dedicated efforts helped educate the public and lawmakers about the need for research, treatment and compassion for those suffering from the disease. She will forever be remembered as an American icon whose activism and dedication made life better for millions of people all across the world.”
More about Elizabeth Taylor’s legacy, tomorrow.
