Listen art 7:59,12.30, and 4:59PM.
When Elizabeth Taylor died on March 23, 2011, she left behind a fortune worth over $600,000,000. Much of that will go to AIDS charities she championed, including amFAR and her own Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation.
At auction, most items sold for higher than the estimated value. Elizabeth Taylor’s script for the 1944 film National Velvet (estimated to bring 2 to 3 thousand dollars) went for about $170,000.
Her jewelry collection alone brought in $137,000,000, setting the world record for most valuable private collection of jewels sold at auction. The Elizabeth Taylor Diamond, a 33-carat ring given to her by husband Richard Burton, sold for nearly $9,000,000. It was said the ring never left Taylor’s finger, except when she let friends try it on.
