Global A Go-Go: Friday April 20, 5-7 PM presents:
Moussu T E Lei Jovents, from Marseille France (pictured above) is, to my ear, one of the world's best rock bands. Their new live album, Empeche-Nous!, has just been released. It's another opportunity for the rest of the world to discover the pleasures of this multicultural, political, rootsy, studiously casual, swinging group.
I'll play a song on this week's show (with plenty more to follow on future programs) as part of a set of like-minded French musicians whose worldviews are as far from those of Nicolas Sarkozy or Marine Le Pen as, say, WRIR is from Rush Limbaugh.
Also this week: new Dominican bachata by Joan Soriano, Nigerian juju music, and a brand-new afrobeat single from Electric Cowbell Records.
