“Fashion Designer, Jason Wu" (read by: Jackie Mullins)

Born in Taiwan in 1982, and moving to Vancouver, Canada, at age 9, Jason Wu learned how to sew by designing doll clothes as a child.  After winning a toy design contest at age 16, Wu joined Integrity Toys as a freelance designer.  He was soon named Creative Director and then Partner in the company.
During high school, Wu decided to become a fashion designer and studied at the prestigious Parsons School of Design in New York City.  He launched his eponymous label in 2006, and won the Fashion Group International’s Rising Star Award in 2008.
Working with drag performer RuPaul, Wu designed six RuPaul dolls. But it was his custom-designed white chiffon gown that Michelle Obama wore at President Barack Obama’s inauguration in 2009 that cast him in the spotlight.
