It’s Time for “Who Said That?” on this episode of “The Rainbow Minute.” Read By: Dustin Richardson

Born in 1981, this West Point graduate and Iraq War veteran announced he was gay on “The Rachel Maddow Show” on March 19, 2009, becoming an instant gay activist.  He received a discharge letter which was finalized on June 29, 2010, becoming another Arabic linguist discharged from the U.S. military under the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy.
He spoke out against that policy, and was arrested twice for handcuffing himself to the White House fence.  Also in protest, he gave his West Point ring to Senator Harry Reid, who returned it on the day President Obama signed the policy’s repeal.
After receiving his ring he said, “The next time I get a ring from a man, I expect it to be for full, equal, American marriage.”
Who said that?
It was First Lieutenant Dan Choi, out loud and proud!
