Sept. 29 – A Richmond Music History Tour


Who is Sunshine Sue and what is the Old Dominion Barn Dance?  Where is the "Harlem of the South"?  What is the deal with the drag queens in Carytown?  Want to know more about the musical history of your town? Join Richmond music historian Gregg Kimball and his guide assistants as they take you on a two hour journey through your city’s music history.

From the “Harlem of the South” days of the Hippodrome to the heydays of Drag queens in Carytown to an exclusive peek at the VCU Library archives, the Richmond Music History Tour is sure to be an unforgettable experience. 

On Saturday, September 29th, there will be two bus tours that will meet at The Camel, one starting at 11AM, the other at 2:30PM.  We'll begin the tour with an awesome overview, then the bus journey begins to some of the greatest music history in and around town.  This event is sponsored by WRIR, The Rainbow Minute, To The Bottom and Back, and the Camel.  Tickets are
