Full Circle presents Richmond’s first Grief Summit.  This event occurs on November 15th from 6 to 8:30 pm at Saint Christophers Middle School.

Local artists Marjorie Perrin, Peggy Larmore and Mark Hierholzer are partnering with Sterling Art and Frame to create a "Celebration of Color".  

The public, opening reception will take place from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. Friday, November 30th.

Sterling Art and Frame is located at 5001 West Leigh Street, just off Broad.

The artists use impressionistic color in their works and provide a unique approach to representational painting.

The museum of the Confederacy presents “War on the Waters”: Lecture and book signing by Dr. James  McPherson

This event occurs on Thursday, December 6 from noon to 1pm in the Library of Virginia Lecture Hall, at 800 E. Broad St

Pulitzer Prize-winning historian  McPherson’s new book, War on the Waters, is the naval history of the Civil War.

Richmond Triangle Players, in collaboration with Piedmont Virginia Community College in Charlottesville, announce a one-night-only reading of “8,” a play chronicling the historic trial in the federal constitutional challenge to California’s Proposition 8,  which stripped gay and lesbian Californians of the fundamental freedom to marry.

The reading, written by Academy Award-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, directed by Richmond Triangle Players’ artistic director, John Knapp and featuring many notable Virginia actors, will take place at the V. Earl Dickinson building on the campus of Piedmont Virginia Community College in Charlottesville  on Tuesday December 18 at 7:30 pm

On friday december 21st at noon, the Museum of the Confederacy  presents a free Brown Bag lunch “Manumitting the Custis family slaves and the eve of Emancipation”

On December 29, 1862 – 3 days before the Emancipation Proclamation took effect – Robert  E. Lee, executor of the estate of his father-in-law, George Washington Parke Custis, traveled from his headquarters in Fredericksburg to Spotsylvania Court House to file a document that freed Custis’s slaves.  What was going on? This program will show and discuss this important document and its historical context.
