Dave Brockie died Sunday night. Such a great loss. Unfathomable. Most of my friends are still wrecked over the news. We have lost a great friend, an inspiration, and an extremely entertaining guy. I've always said that Dave was the easiest interview guest EVER. Just put a mic in front of him and press on … instant entertainment. Sober, drunk, didn't matter, always made me smile, laugh, … and often think about things in a new way.

Dave was hands-down my most frequent radio guest over all my years at WDCE and WRIR. I counted 10 times here at WRIR the last few years, 5 of them in 2012, most recently July '13 with Tannon Penland to talk about  the GWAR-B-Q. I've decided to re-air one of my favorite interviews, the one from 8/10/12 with Dave plus Randy Blythe (Lamb of God), who had several days earlier been granted bail after five (?) weeks in prison in Prague on charges that he caused the death of a fan two years earlier. (Randy later went back to the Czech Republic to stand trial and was acquited.) Both Dave and Randy are very intelligent guys, and the conversation that night was really fascinating. I hope you enjoy this rebroadcast, bittersweet though it is. Dave, I'll miss you!!!
