Valentine Museum and the Edge of Daybreak presents:
The Valentine Museum's Richmond Historymakers Award ceremony is next week and we talk with director Bill Martin about living history. A late 70's funk/soul album recorded in Powathan Correctional Facility gets a re-issue and we hear all about it from Marty Key.
On today's Open Source RVA, we talk to Bill Martin, director of the Valentine Museum, about the prestigeous Richmond Historymakers award, to be given to multiple honorees on October 20. And if you catch us blushing a bit, it's because one of the receipients this year is WRIR. We also speak with Marty Key of Steady Sounds record shop about the reissue of a classic Richmond soul record by a group called Edge of Daybreak, which was recorded in, of all places, the Powathan Correctional Facility. He'll talk about the Edge of Daybreak reissue release party happening at Steady Sounds on October 22nd. All of that and more on today's Open Source RVA on WRIR 97.3 FM and http://WRIR.org
