MURAL PROJECT! presents:

On today’s Open Source RVA, we’re painting big and thinking large. In honor of the 5th annual Richmond Mural Project — unveiling new works today across the city — we welcome Richmond TImes-Dispatch columnist Mark Holmberg to talk about his recent controversial column on RVA’s growing culture of mural art. Do these large, colorful works reflect the city’s values, he asks, and shouldn’t there be more oversight? We also talk with Richmond artist Matt Lively about the art of making murals, and about the new multi-artist show (“Cahute”) he’s participating in at Glave-Kocen Gallery. We also welcome WRIR’s Shannon Cleary to preview this weekend’s big Commonwealth of Notions Vol. 6 music festival, happening at Gallery5 and Strange Matter. Make some noise and splash some color around with Open Source RVA! Listen in at 2PM on 97.3 FM and http://www.wrir.org/
