Lost Music Saloon: August 8: 5-7 p.m.: Speaking Songs

Today’s Lost Music Saloon will be something a little bit different – – two hours filled with “speaking songs”…songs that feature spoken words in parts or throughout, with those spoken words over anything from simple musical beds to full-band arrangements. Talking blues, cowboy poetry, backwoods storytelling, humorous ditties, plus the most recent (and controversial) creation: country-rap. I’m a lyrics guy, so these kinds of “speaking songs” offer listeners a great chance to focus on the lyrics, and most of the time that pays big dividends in these songs. So kick back and enjoy today’s selections!
