PARKS AND POETRY ON OPEN SOURCE RVA! On Friday’s edition of Open Source RVA, we welcome musician, DJ, writer and arts educator Michael Williams, aka Michael Donovan, aka Mike Kemetic. The Richmond renaissance man stops by to talk about all of the things he’s got going on in June, and reads selections from his new book of poetry, Hood Haiku, on Fist City Press. And in wake of the latest revelations surrounding the controversial Monroe Park renovation — including the mayor’s office funneling taxpayer dollars into the project without city council’s knowledge — former Monroe Park Advisory Council member Todd Woodson drops by to talk about some upcoming public meetings that will determine the park’s final fate. Richmond’s audio news digest is also proud to present another report from Charles Mcguigan, host of A Grain of Sand, This time, Charles tells us all about the true origins of Memorial Day.
