Open Source RVA presents:

GET IN STEP WITH THE SOURCE! On Friday’s edition of Open Source RVA we talk with author Howard Owen about the alternate Richmond that he’s concocting in his “Willie Black” mystery novels — books like “Oregon Hill,” “The Bottom” and his just-released The Devil’s Triangle.” Owen will appear at a launch for the new work at Chop Suey Books on July 12. Then Political gadfly Paul Goldman joins us to talk about his latest public petition drive to modernize Richmond’s public schools, and why it’s immoral that bigwigs are floating the idea of a new coliseum while city schools are dilapidating. And it’s time to geek out! WRIR’s own Avery Evans drops by to tell us all about his new show, “Chopping It Up Geek,” which airs the second and fourth Tuesday at 12 noon on WRIR. It explores all things geeky and obsessive, like comics, music, sports, etc. We also present another installment of the Quick & Dirty Council Roundup, hosted by RVA Dirt’s own Jessse Perry and Melissa Vaughn (something actually happened at Richmond City Council this week – don’t miss it). All of that PLUS producer Krysti Albus rolls down to Carter Jones Park to talk to the skateboarders who rode on Go Skate Day. TOO MUCH GLIDE FOR JUST ONE STRIDE. Get your Source at 2PM on WRIR 97.3 FM and http://www.wrir.org.
