Open Source RVA February 2, 2018 presents:

NOTHING FAKE ABOUT THIS SOURCE, COMRADE! On today’s edition of Open Source RVA, host Don Harrison talks with conservative writer and radio host Joshua Huffman (pictured), who recently broke the story about a “fake news” website called The Republican Standard that is being funded, without disclosure, by two GOP political PACs. This story has implications for WRIR too. Open Source RVA producer and WRIR local programming manager Krysti Albus will also discuss the fate of a new show slated to air on WRIR, Scotch & Reason, that regularly features the Republican Standard’s editor, Shaun Kenney (Open Source RVA listeners will recall that Scotch & Reason was incubated in monthly segments last year on the show). We also talk with Landon Shroder and Madelyne Ashworth from RVAMag about legislation in the Virginia General Assembly that would give police broader powers to deal with domestic terrorists. But does this proposed legislation, co-sponsored by Virginia attorney general Mark Herring, go too far and have possible unintended consequences? All of that PLUS Open Source RVA’s new statehouse correspondent Brandon Jarvis reports on the latest from the Virginia General Assembly. THE SOURCE IS STRONG IN THIS ONE! Hear all about it at noon on WRIR 97.3 FM and http://www.wrir.org.
