Cause and Effect presents:

Noah and Jamil are back on the radio together again! This time exploring, thinking about, talking about, and listening to Rapsody. Rapsody is a rare jewel, tucked into the secret spots out in our rap landscape at the moment. Her artfully executed verses present her unique style in a way that hip-hop fans have reacted strongly to since she first glistened.

We’ll of course hear some of Rapsody’s best, visiting the work from her full length albums, especially Laila’s Wisdom, a release which has and continues to define the course of her career and legacy. Also her collaborations with alums like Busta Rhymes and Kendrick Lamar.

It’d be difficult to discuss Rapsody without sifting through the work of some of her admirers and squad, both direct and tertiary. The music of friends and fellows such as Kanye West, Ludacris, and Nicki Minaj are thrown in to round out the bowl in this portrait of the mixture that is the salad of rap’s current menagerie of eccentric, exciting music. And in that bowl in that portrait in that mixture of that salad, Rapsody is the cobalt highlight on that diced black olive that gives you that tangy bite you can’t find anywhere else.

And of course we’ll delve into Rapsody’s influence. As we struggle to think real hard through the enjoyment of Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, Mos Def and others among the musicians Rapsody’s cites as personally important, we’ll really just have trouble avoiding NOT having fun!

Am I talking this circle? Am I even in this circle? How well can you draw a circle? It’s not round enough! If this seems crazy, it’s because Jamil Jacey and Noah Page erase the complacency that lately causes latency in this bakery of rap.

Seriously though: a fun rap show about Rapsody where Jamil Jacey and Noah Page listen to a lot of music and have fun.
