OUR DEATH AND LOBOTOMY SEASON OPENER! Open Source RVA is tanned, rested and ready! Listen Friday at noon on WRIR 97.3 FM as Richmond filmmaker Rick Alverson drops by to talk about his latest feature film, “The Mountain,” screening at the Byrd Theatre on Sunday, Sept. 8. Among its attributes, the movie co-stars the great Jeff Goldblum as a traveling lobotomist. We also welcome back Alane Cameron Ford and Phil Ford, the hosts of Death Club Radio, which airs Thursdays on WRIR. They’ll talk about their Death Club Radio Live event at Firehouse Theatre on Tuesday, Sept. 10, billed as an End-of-life Extravaganza. All of that PLUS an exciting new instalmment of Curtain Call, produced by the Richmond Theatre Critics Circle. In this one, it’s all about the Artsies. Richmond’s answer to the Tony Awards. Jerry Williams talks to Amy Wight, producer of the big show, and the newest Theatre Alliance Panel member, Alan Sader speaks about his career and credentials. IT’S THE NEW FALL SEASON!!
