Open Source RVA presents:

THE SOURCE FOR FOLKS!! On Friday’s FOLKTASTIC edition of Open Source RVA, heard at noon on WRIR 97.3 FM, we talk all about the 16th Annual Richmond Folk Festival, which starts Friday and runs thru Sunday. The celebrated annual music extravaganza is going virtual this year, but organizers have planned a streaming and televised smorgasbord of music and folklife that is firmly in the RFF tradition. Stephen Lecky of Venture Richmond and Blaine Waide of the National Council for the Traditional Arts (NCTA)) join Don Harrison to offer their tips on performances you won’t want to miss. Then, in another installment of the Next 400, Mike Kemetic  welcomes Janine Bell of the Elegba Folklore Society. How have changing times and movements shaped Elegba’s longtime community mission? We also have a brand new installment of Curtain Call, produced by the Richmond Theatre Critics Circle. This week, critics Susie Hirsch Haubenstock, Julinda D. Lewis, and Jerry Williams discuss the Firehouse Theatre production of ANN, and also revisit this year’s Artsies streaming show. FIRMLY IN THE SOURCE TRADITION! Get back to your roots on Friday at noon on WRIR 97.3 FM and wrir.org.
