The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit/Nighttime Maneuvers presents:
Hey Listeners,
So it’s the fund drive! And while things are a little different this fall. A couple of key things remain the same. First of all WRIR is still here for you bringing the listener the very best of under-represented music, news, and talk. And second we still need your support. So tonight on the breaks I’ll be talking a little more than usual about the station and what it means to me and the community. But the show will be awesome just like every Monday on the MIGFS Show.
Tonight’s show is perfect for the Haberdasher and a fund drive show. We’ll be featuring tracks from Other Music’s top 100 sellers. Other Music was a record store in NYC’s East Village that closed in 2016. I recently watched an incredibly (and surprisingly) moving documentary about the store. It was fabulous and I knew right away that it would make a good subject for a MIGFS Show. But it’s just so perfect for the fund drive. As my regular listeners know I am a rock doc aficionado. Also regular listeners know that I am a big fan of lists. Using the best-seller list is perfect.
But more importantly Other Music and WRIR share an independent spirit. Other Music flourished in the shadow of a Tower Records store because it was different. Its offering was unique – curated. Does that sound familiar? Sure WRIR flourishes with its tower of low power in the shadow of media conglomerates, but it thrives – because it offers up – other music and talk and news and you can’t get it anywhere else. And because you can’t the station is important to you and twice a year you are happy to support us!
Enjoy tonight’s show and donate early and often – just like you vote!
