Open Source RVA presents:

On Friday’s music-filled edition of! Open Source RVA, heard at noon on WRIR LP 97.3 FM, we talk jazz excavation with Zak Young, AKA Dj Mentos. He recently unearthed a never-before-heard song by piano legend Nat King Cole– a cut that also has ties to Young’s family. He tells us the story behind this tuneful piece of history, which is now available on a Grammy-nominated box set called “Hittin’ the Ramp.” Then, for The Next 400, Mike Kemetic talks with Brice Maddox, the host of WRIR’s “Mid-Atlantic Jams.” DJ B-Rice fills us in on the evolution of his popular Wednesday show, and discusses the state of hip-hop in the River City. AND ONE MORE TIME! We present the dulcet tones of RVA Dirt’s Melissa Vaughn as she delivers another stirring, passionate and, yes somewhat dissonant Quick and DIrty Council Roundup. THIS SHOW SOUNDS GREAT ON HEADPHONES! Hear it Friday noon on WRIR 97.3 FM and wrir.org.
