This week’s show is a bit of a celebration of Juneteenth, which commemorates the June 19, 1865 emancipation of enslaved African-Americans in the United States. (You probably know that the Emancipation Proclamation freed people in 1862. And that’s technically true. But the last enslaved folks in Texas weren’t freed until federal soldiers arrived to enforce Emancipation in 1865. Our country’s history is pretty messed up, y’all. It’s important to learn about the good, the bad, and the ugly.)
