BITTERSWEET NOTES AND BEAUTIFUL ART! On the April 8 edition of Richmond’s audio news digest, we say a tearful goodbye to the great Erin Freeman, longtime director of the Richmond Symphony Chorus and Richmond Ballet. But before she leaves Richmond to become director of the City Choir of Washington D.C., Freeman will give a farewell concert and conduct Haydn’s oratorio “The Creation” this Saturday and Sunday at the Carpenter Theatre – an event that commemorates the Symphony Chorus’s 50th anniversary. We’ll talk with her about everything from learning new skills during COVID to what’s changed with the SYmphony over the past 15 years to the future of classical music. We also welcome Ashtin Bowman and Noah Wilson, VCU communication arts seniors and two of the organizers behind the 2022 VCU Communication Arts Expo, happening at VCU’s student commons building. The free EXPO showcases the work of more than 50 of VCU’s top graduating illustrators and graphic artists. We ask these budding young talents what makes VCU’s art school such a top place for creative instruction, and also what could make the learning experience better. GET YOUR SOURCE ON!
