Cause + Effect: UK STREET SOUL

Immaculately produced, distinctly British. UK Street Soul came into its own in the late 80s in inner city Black communities as a community-born sound, standing on its own from mainstream music and largely White raves. And the music itself is sublime. Its influence is largely unsung, being a stop in a long lineage of UK-specific forms: hybrid lovers rock, jungle, 2step, and beyond. Today on Cause & Effect, I’m just going to play a whole bunch of it ’cause I really like it. Plus some pirate radio clips. Plus some dance music. Plus some other stuff, but mostly this stuff.
