Open Source RVA presents:

RICHMOND’S SOURCE! On Friday’s “Let’s Have Funds” edition of Open Source RVA, heard at noon on WRIR 97.3 FM, we welcome James French, chair of the Montpelier Descendants Committee and a member of the board of the Montpelier Foundation. He speaks to Dina Weinstein about how the Foundation board is pushing out members of the Descendants Committee, and why that’s wrong. We also welcome trumpeter Rex Richardson, one of the world’s great horn players. He’ll be performing with the Richmond Symphony this Saturday in a program of Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn pieces, as well as new work written just for him by local composer Trey Pollard. We also welcome back WRIR fundraising committee chair and former Open Source RVA producer Baylen Forcier. He tells us why it’s so important to support WRIR during its 2022 fund drive, happening RIGHT NOW. Unfortunately, he doesn’t just TELL Don Harrison, Krysti Albus, Dina Weinstein and Chuck Moore why it’s important, he SHOWS them what a bleak dystopian hellscape the media landscape in RIchmond was before WRIR came along. It was horrible, folks. Donate at wrir.org now so we never have to go back there. WRIR 97.3 FM and wrir.org.
