On Friday’s packed edition of Open Source RVA, heard at noon on WRIR 97.3 FM, we talk about the informative new documentary, “Richmond on Paper: Birth of a Planet,” which is screening as part of the Richmond International Film Festival tonight at Movieland Bow-Tie Cinemas. First, Dina Weinstein talks to the filmmakers behind this look into Richmond’s pioneering African-American newspaper, the Richmond Planet – Sylvester R. Tucker, Scot Crooker and Sean Gorman, as well as Ron Carey, owner of the producing Tilt Creative + Production  THEN Don Harrison speaks to Richmond Planet editor John Mitchell Jr.’s great-great nephew John Mitchell about his uncle’s legacy and find out what’s happening with the renovation of his resting place, Evergreen Cemetery. AND…we also Welcome Richmond Food Not Bombs volunteers Nava and Aaron, who tell Don about the hunger relief organiaztion’s hoped-for move to a new location — can you help? — and why Richmond needs their food relief services now more than ever.
