Tonight on The Unquiet Grave (9-11pm EST), we’re exploring EARLY BLACK METAL—meaning, we’re diving into the first wave, starting in 1982 with Venom’s Black Metal and moving along chronologically, ending just before A Blaze In The Northern Sky and the kickoff of the 2nd wave ten years later. I really love the way genres blur together around the creation of a new subgenre, and proto-black metal is no exception to that: a lot of thrashy, deathy, and just plain weird stuff to get into here.
