085: Rei Harakami 原神 玲
When Rei Harakami (1970-2011) was first introduced to computer and techno music back in film school, he HATED them. But he soon found a way to freely twist its rhythm or add nuances and completely transform this music into his own. The release of Unrest in 1997 marked the beginning of such a trademark Harakami sound in the making. Couple more albums and collaborations followed up further secured his place on the list of most unique Japanese electronic music producers. A world of reverb, delay, drama, fun and imagination. Ladies and gentlemen, Rei Harakami.
