YOUR SOURCE FOR FOLKLIFE! On Friday’s return-from-a-respite Open Source RVA, heard at noon on WRIR 97.3 FM, Don Harrison welcomes Pat Jarrett of the Virginia Folklife Program at Virginia Humanities. He tells us all about this weekend’s big “Celebration of Virginia Folklife” event at the Library of Virginia. Starting tonight and running all day Saturday, this showcase honors the state’s musical and cultural traditions with free live concerts, documentary films, interactive displays and a celebration of the Folklife Apprenticeship Program. AND GUESS WHO’S BACK? We welcome the one and only Kelli Strawbridge. The man of a thousand bands — and the The Hustle Season podcast — recently released two EPs under the name tan.gent and he’ll tell us what it’s like going solo, among other things.
