Kathleen Mary Ferrier, CBE (1912-1953)
Including a complete 1951 performance of Mahler’s Kindertotenlieder (“Songs on the Death of Chldren”) from Concertgebouw Hall in Amsterdam. We conclude with a March 10, 1950 interview with Kathleen Ferrier, recorded at CBC Studio in Montreal.
A 1912 photo of conductor Bruno Walter (1876-1962), friend and colleague of Gustav Mahler. Walter conducted the posthumous premieres of Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde and the 9th Symphony.
