InterTribal presents:

Good morning and welcome to your weekend.

Today, we will finish reviewing the last of the Native American Music Award nominees for Best Rock Recording. I have provided the NAMA Link here so you may visit the site and participate in the vote. This will allow you to support the musician of your choice. Except for the music videos, I believe we covered most, if not all, of the musical categories.

Today’s music will consist of recent releases, and music from previous NAMA winners. I invite you to relax and enjoy the music.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Walk in Peace,

Tall Feathers

Good morning and welcome to your weekend!

While spring has been in the air this past week for a day or two, we are expected to get another blast of artic air this weekend. Hope everyone stays safe.

White we continue to review the nominees of the Native American Music Awards we remember this Monday is Valentine’s Day. The topic of love is in many of the songs.

Included in the show is a snippet of new regarding the first Indigenous woman on the USA Women’s Ice Hockey team. See below:

InterTribal presents:

Good morning and Happy Weekend!

Today we continue to review the nominees for the 2022 Native American Music Awards Program. I hope this music inspires you to participate in the voting process. Over the past two weeks, I have fallen in love with the music and the singer/song writers of the various styles. I hope you find your favorites right from last week’s and this week’s shows.

News Bulletin:

I continue to look for people interested in learning how to produce and host InterTribal. Before I was looking for those from the Virginia indigenous communities, but now I am opening this call to those who are allies or members of non-local indigenous communities (blood quantum will not play a role here). If you are interested, please write me at [email protected]. I only ask that you have a sincere interest in promoting the indigenous voice and willing to commit to a few years of hosting. I am actually looking for two or three people.

Many Blessings and Walk in Peace,
Tall Feathers

Hello and Welcome to your weekend!

As I write this post it appears as though we won’t receiving the snow that was expected earlier this week. For some this is a huge disappointment, while for others, a great relief. Regardless of snowfall amounts, this is a bitterly cold time right now so please make sure all your pets are in during this time.

Today I want to congratulate all the 2022 Native American Music Award Nominees! By the time this blog is posted the Public Voting will be open. So grab your coffee, tea, or hot chocolate and follow the link to the website and begin to review the music and videos. Afterwards, select your candidate of choice to win.

Be sure to check on your neighbors too.

Thanks for tuning in.

Walk in Peace,
Tall Feathers

InterTribal presents:

Good morning and welcome to your weekend.

Today you will hear a return of the segment This Week in Indian Country. In this segment two news broadcasts are shared. This past week on Tuesday, January 11, two men journeyed on to their ancestors.

The two men are: Clyde Bellecourt – Co-Founder of AIM (American Indian Movement) and Vince Fontaine – Co-Founder of the popular band; Eagle and Hawk. May both men journey well and swiftly.

  • I had the distinct honor to have met and interacted with Clyde many years ago when I volunteered at the Prayer Vigil for the Earth several years in a row. Clyde was always there. He was open and willing to share. It was a honor to be in ceremony with him and even shared time at a picnic bench eating our meals. We talked of our mother the Earth, we spoke of our children and we just enjoyed sharing time. He truly had a wonderful heart. Clyde was involved with many activities that helped his people, his community and the indigenous population as a whole.
  • Vince Fontaine was a co-founding member of Eagle & Hawk. What can be said except I bloomed to their music late, but played their music frequently over the past year. Sharing the experiences of the indigenous people musically is a great way for the truth to be delivered. I cannot believe we lost one of the founding members. Hope we can continue to share the music of Eagle & Hawk.

The links provided above will take you to the respective news broadcasts. I am airing these broadcasts in this week’s segment of This Week in Indian Country.

I also wanted to share that I hope each of you are safe Sunday and Monday. Please take this storm seriously, especially if it is mostly sleet and or ice.

Thanks for tuning in and hope you enjoy the show.

Walk in Peace,

Tall Feathers

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy Yuletide, Happy Kwanzaa, and Happy Hanukkah (for all who celebrated that holiday at the start of this month)

No matter how you celebrate this time of year, I wish you all good health, joy, laughter, love, happiness and peace.

This show is full of holiday music. I think this was the most music I have been able to find performed by indigenous musical artists. I hope you have a blessed morning and build beautiful memories.

Happy Holidays to you all.

InterTribal presents:

Good morning and welcome to your weekend.

Today we celebrate the Winter Solstice and anticipate the Holiday of Christmas. I can remember when I was a child I used to write greeting cards that had Yuletide written on them. I also remember asking my mother about Seasons Greetings. What it meant and why would it be used.

She explained, if you wish to give a holiday greeting to a stranger, but you did not know what holiday they celebrated it would be polite to say “seasons greetings”. “It was a sign of respect”, she said. Today people get so up in arms about people who say “Happy Holidays”. These are not statements of war against your beliefs, these statements are signs of openness and welcoming the existence of  those who believe different than you.

Happy Holidays to each and everyone.

Walk in Peace,
Tall Feathers
