Bebop and Beyond with Mr. Jazz

I’ve been broadcasting jazz for over forty years. My first exposure to America’s Classical Music came as a child in the city of my birth………….New Orleans. From my youth I was exposed to this great music, and as I grew, my love for and interest in the music grew.

Sharing the music has always been my primary motivation. It is something that I am very passionate about. I want everyone to hear this great idiom that originated right here in America and is revered worldwide.

I was displaced from my home in New Orleans and lost my whole music collection as a result of Hurricane Katrina. I had been with WWOZ-FM in New Orleans for twenty-four years. WRIR has afforded me the opportunity to continue to share my musical knowledge and expertise with it’s listeners.

When I started at WWOZ the station was in it’s second year. When I came to Richmond and started with WRIR, it too was in it’s second year. I’m thankful for the opportunity to be involved with the growth of my new home. Join me on Sundays to experience Jazz in all it’s colors and forms .
