Open Source RVA presents:

THE NEWS-TALK SHOW THAT OTHER PROGRAMS WANT TO BE WHEN THEY GROW UP! On Friday’s community-first installment of Open Source RVA, heard at noon on WRIR 97.3 FM,  we welcome Josiah Ickes and Chris Haynie, the founders of Happy Trees Agricultural Supply. This unique garden shop, with multiple locations across the region, caters specifically to those growing their own marijuana. Don Harrison talks to them about the status of Virginia’s decriminalization of pot and how home growers can successfully cultivate the ganja. We also welcome the one and only Chris Dovi back to the program. The Source’s host emeritus and the executive director of CodeVA talks about Computer Science Week, which begins on Dec. 6th, and fills Dina Weinstein in on the state of computer science education in K-12 schools across Virginia. AND WE’RE ON THE MOVE!! Melissa Vaughn, the president of the Virginia Center for Public Press (WRIR’s parent company), and LJ Rafalko, longtime VCPP board member, give us the details on WRIR’s impending move to a new, better, more accessible location – and how listeners can help. GET SOURCED! Friday noon on WRIR 97.3 FM and wrir.org.
