James “Barf” Callahan is a cartoonist and writer living in Richmond, Virginia. After graduating from VCU with a focus on illustration, he has gone on to create hundreds of pages of comics, exhibited work around the globe, and designed countless skate graphics, t-shirts, and record covers. “I first stumbled across WRIR a dozen years ago, and I was immediately hooked. Every time I tuned in, I was hearing bands and music that was completely new to me, curated and hosted by real, live humans, all on a commercial free format. On top of that, I was learning about local events, shows, and organizations. Since then, WRIR has been playing in my studio as a constant soundtrack to thousands of hours of drawing comics and designing illustrations.
