Club Unity presents:
Tape # 1 from Fielden’s Afterhours Club in Richmond, VA. Only information is from the sticker on the reel “Sat 5-2-82” Tape was salvaged from the building at 2033 W. Broad St. before it was sold to a new owner. The record storage room was wrecked, everything had been in piles on the floor covered in dust for years. Warning: the tape was in bad shape, so the quality is quite rough – hope you like some Lo-Fi. Thrilled to be able to save this crucial piece of LGBTQ history & foundation of club music/DJ culture in Richmond. More tapes on the way.
If you have any information on who the DJ might be or first-hand accounts from the early 80’s, we’d love to hear your stories! There is a documentary currently in the works & we need your help getting as much info as possible to preserve the Fielden’s legacy.
