Open Source RVA presents:

SING ALONG WITH THE SOURCE! On Friday’s tuneful and rousing edition of Open Source RVA, heard at noon on WRIR 97.3 FM, we welcome Richmond singer-songwriter Benjamin Shepherd. His excellent new album, “Hold the Line,” has just been released, and Shepherd will be performing live at the Richmond Music Hall at Capital Ale House on Saturday night, opening for J.S. Ondara. He and accompanist Kevin Guild talk about the state of Americana music, and perform a song from the new release. We also talk to Matthew Slaats and Paul Ellis of Democracy Summer, a summer camp for progressive high school and college students which will hold its sessions in Richmond from June 19 to August 4. We also have another splashy edition of Curtain Call, our bi-weekly look at Richmond’s thriving theatre scene, courtesy of the Richmond Theatre Critics Circle. This time, Jerry Williams, Rich Griset, Julinda D. Lewis and Susie Hirsch Haubenstock review “Gloria” (Cadence Theatre Company/Virginia Repertory Theatre), “An Octoroon” (TheatreLAB) and “Wrong Chopped” (Firehouse Theatre). THE SOURCE IS WILD!! Catch it at noon on WRIR 97.3 FM and http://wrir.org.
