“Lana Lawless’s Case Resolved" Read By: Miss Heavenly-Leigh Kennedy

In May of 2011, transgender golf champion Lana Lawless, the Ladies Professional Golf Association and the Long Drivers of America announced that they had settled the legal action relating to the participation of transgender females in their tournaments and other activities.
In the statement, the Ladies Professional Golf Association expressed its appreciation to Lana Lawless for raising the issues of transgender participation and applauded the LPGA members who voted overwhelmingly to remove the “female at birth” provision from its by-laws.
Other golf organizations had already changed their own policies allowing transgender people to compete including the International Olympic Committee, United States Golf Association, the Ladies Golf Union in Britain and the Ladies European Gold Tour.
