“I Am What I Am"

In April of 2010, Christian music star Jennifer Knapp made public she is a lesbian, during interviews with the “Advocate,” “Christianity Today,” and Reuters. The multiple Dove Award-winning and Grammy-nominated pop singer also mentioned she has been in a relationship with her girlfriend for eight years.
With almost a decade-long break from singing, she came back from Sydney, Australia, where she traveled the Outback and got “in touch with the earth.” In the process, she joined her spiritual life with her sexuality.
Knapp felt the time was right to return to Nashville and her music, and brought her partner with her. Her announcement came just one month before the release of her new album, “Letting Go.”
Self assured and strong, she appeared on “CNN’s Larry King Live,” and said, “I Am What I Am.”
