The time is here! After 5 long years the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts has it’s doors open again. Enjoy the museum’s permanent collections as well as some special exhibits including “Matisse, Picasso and Modern Art in Paris”, “German Expressionist Art” and Tiffany Glass.  VMFA is located at 200 North Boulevard in Richmond. Through July and August the Richmond Festival of Arts at Dogwood Dell in Byrd Park features an eclectic mix of old and new, becoming one of Richmond's cultural treasures. A variety of shows can be enjoyed at the "Dell" including classical music and dance; drama, comedy, and musical theatre; reggae, pop, swing, rhythm and blues, rock, jazz and contemporary music concerts. The Alliance to Conserve Old Richmond Neighborhoods is holding the Study Kick- Off Workshop to share ideas on how to improve Route 5 from 7th Street downtown to South Laburnum Avenue in eastern Henrico County. The meeting will take place from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday, July 29 at Varina High School, located at 7053 Messer Road. On Thursday, August 19th  at 7:00 PM, Tuckahoe Library will host Virginia author David L. Robbins, author of Broken Jewel, who will present a talk entitled Prisoner of the Japanese. Robbins will detail what it was like to be a guest of the imperial army in Manila, The Philippines from 1942 until 1945.
