The Stax Story Part 3 presents:

The Stax Story Part 3

It's time for the third chapter of our story about the greatest Soul music record label in history, the Memphis based Stax Records, home of many Southern Soul legends. Tonight, our co-host DJ Pari will take you back to the years 1966 and 1967, arguably the label's so called Golden Years. The little hit factory inside a converted movie theater on McLemore Avenue was running around the clock, with the house band around Steve Cropper backing most of the artists as well as the new instrumental band Bar-Kays. Many hits were penned by a young Isaac Hayes and David Porter, and the label's biggest artists were Otis Redding, Carla and Rufus Thomas, William Bell, Eddie Floyd and Sam & Dave. But on tonight's show, you will not only hear the hits but also some of the lesser known releases. Tune in from 11pm until 1 am Eastern and click "Read more" for the playlist.
